The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra League is hosting world-renowned cellist Zuill Bailey next week at its spring fundraising dinner concert.
Supporters of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, previously known as the Williamsburg Symphonia, will have the opportunity to enjoy “An Intimate Evening with Zuill Bailey” on Wednesday at Two Rivers Country Club.
Bailey, a Virginia native, has soloed with The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra previously and with many internationally known symphony orchestras.
In addition to his successful performance career, Bailey is also an internationally renowned recording artist. His celebrated “Bach Cello Suites” and recently released Britten Cello Symphony/Sonata CDs “immediately soared to the Number One spot on the Classical Billboard Charts,” according to a recent news release from Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra.
Fans of the HBO series “Oz” or NBC’s “Homicide” may also recognize Bailey from his guest appearances on those shows.
Bailey’s performance next week will include a special duet with Akemi Takayama, concertmaster of The Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to the musical portion of the evening, the fundraising concert dinner will also include a live auction, raffle and paddle raise.
The money raised at next week’s event will go to support the Williamsburg Symphony’s educational programs, including “Instruments for Kids” and “Meet the Musicians,” as well as support for special musical arrangements and Master Works Concert soloists.
Tickets for “An Intimate Evening with Zuill Bailey” are $110 per person. To purchase, contact Marie Knuettel at marieknuettel@gmail.com or 757-259-2313.
