City of Williamsburg and James City County residents now have the opportunity to register for free pruning instructions and advise from a certified Master Gardener.
The James City County/Williamsburg chapter of the Master Gardeners, an organization sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension that aims to communicate environmentally sound horticultural practices to the community, is accepting applications for home visits from interested gardeners looking to receive personalized information on pruning their shrubs and trees.
Each participant in the Master Gardeners program must take part in a series of classes and volunteer projects to build his or her expertise before becoming fully certified to offer advice through the pruning clinic and other programs that the organization offers.
Once an application is received and approved, a time will be scheduled for a Master Gardener to perform a home visit and assess the specific pruning needs of each individual garden.
Visits will take place in February, but registration closes Jan. 15.
