A James City County dance club recently got into the giving spirit of the holidays with a donation of money and supplies to the Heritage Humane Society.
The Good Time Dancers are a line dancing club associated with James City County’s Lounge, formerly known as the Historic Triangle Senior Center.
The Lounge, which is located in the county recreation center, serves as a dedicated space for citizens ages 55 and up that plays host to a variety of clubs and social groups, the dancers among them.
The group presented the Heritage Humane Society with a donation of $813 earlier this month, along with a wealth of material goods including food, toys, bedding and other animal care essentials to be used at the shelter.
The money raised will be matched by the Giving Tuesday Campaign, an initiative that aims to turn attention toward charitable giving after the major shopping weekend that follows Thanksgiving.
New Town Dental Arts and two private donors agreed to match all donations to Heritage Humane Society up to $5,000 as part of Giving Tuesday.
The Good Time Dancers meet biweekly and perform at events throughout the community. For more information on the group call 757-259-4178 .
