Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Victory Center are celebrating the launch of the “Revolutionary Society”– a new donor group for engaged community members aged 21 to 50 – with a Botanical Bash on Wednesday to mark the opening of the new “Botanical Virginia” exhibit at Jamestown.
“The Revolutionaries” are young professionals drawn from a variety of fields with “a flair for social involvement and a passion for American history,” according the group’s website. They support the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in its educational mission through a annual membership fee of $160.70 – inspired by the year 1607.
Wednesday’s “Botanical Bash” is the launch event for the group and will feature hand-crafted cocktails made with native Virginian plants to accompany the new “Clayton & Catesby: Botanical Virginia” exhibit, which features 17 hand-colored engravings of native Virginian plants.
In addition to access to events like the Botanical Bash, Revolutionaries can enjoy benefits like free admission for two adults for both museums for one year, advance notice of special events and programs and a 20 percent discount in museum gift shops.
The Botanical Bash runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets for the Botanical Bash are $40 for non-members and include three cocktails and small bites. Click here to purchase.
