Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center Announces Gala at Ford’s Colony

ArtSpeaksThe Williamsburg Contemporary Art Center recently announced the details of “ArtSpeaks Loud and Clear,” a fundraising gala that takes place every September.

The recently rebranded art center, formerly This Century Art Gallery, is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of art outreach programs to the community.

This year’s gala is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Ford’s Colony Swim and Tennis Club.

Popular past features such as the silent and live auction, overseen by auctioneers Rick Overy and Aaron Williams, will be returning this year, in addition to plenty of food and an open wine bar.

Guests can buy works from 36 regional artists, including paintings, photography and sculptures.

Additionally, a number of local collectors have donated pre-owned works of art to include in the auctions. Among the donated pieces is a painted violin by Connie Desaulniers from the Painted Violin Project and a large construction piece by local artist and architect Carlton Abbott.

Even if gala-goers are not looking to purchase new art, the auction will also include a variety of specialty items donated by local businesses and individuals, including a Nags Head getaway, privately hosted dinners and a boat cruise.

Lest performance art enthusiasts feel left out among the variety of visual art pieces available for purchase, the gala will close out with a musical review from song stylist Tempy Barbru, pianist and composer Bobby Jasinski and saxophonist Carolyn Keurajian.

This event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 27. Tickets are $75 a person in advance or $80 at the door. For more information or to make reservations, contact Janis Wood at 757-220-2217 or at jleewoodart21@msn.com, or click here.
