It may be getting colder everywhere else in the Historic Triangle but Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre will have a sunny, tropical vibe this weekend.
Parrots of the Caribbean, the self-described “#1 Jimmy Buffet Tribute Act in the Country,” will be playing a show this weekend to benefit PIPE: Providing Indoor Plumbing to Everyone.
This annual concert was the brainchild of the Leadership Historic Triangle class of 2007, who came up with the idea as part of their class project to raise funds to install indoor plumbing in homes throughout the area.
Though the state of Virginia provides funding to assist households in need of indoor plumbing, some homes still lack it due to irregularities that require alternative sewer and water solutions. The goal of PIPE is to fill in the gap between what the state will pay for and what the remaining Historic Triangle homes without indoor plumbing need to make the switch.
To date the initiative has paid for indoor plumbing in more than 80 homes in the Historic Triangle.
The proceeds from Saturday’s show, which kicks of will warm-up act Johnny St. Clair at 6 p.m., will all go to PIPE and partner organization Housing Partnership Inc. to further the goal of providing indoor plumbing to every house in the area.
Parrots of the Caribbean will take the stage at 7 p.m., and fans are encouraged to come decked out in their best Parrothead attire.
Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 on the day of the event and $10 for students and children under 12. Doors open at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available for sale but no outside food or drink is permitted. Click here to buy tickets and learn more about PIPE.
