Retirees, empty-nesters or individuals who have discovered a later-in-life passion for writing can attend an upcoming workshop at the Williamsburg Regional Library led by the author of “Time to Write: Discovering the Writer Within After 50.”
The Chesapeake Bay Writers and WRL are cosponsoring Frank Milligan’s “How to get Started as a Writer” workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Milligan was a counterintelligence agent, federal criminal investigator and law enforcement senior executive before he retired to pursue a career as a writer.
In addition to writing several fiction and non-fiction books, Milligan teaches creative writing and business writing at Northern Virginia Community College.
He also teaches creative writing workshops at several venues throughout Williamsburg, and is the owner and operator of Write Way Communications, a writing instruction, services and consultation firm.
Saturday’s workshop will include advice and anecdotes from the author, many of which draw on themes explored in “Time To Write,” for which Milligan won the 2009 Silver Award at the National Mature Media Awards.
The event is free and interested parties can register by calling the library at 757-259-4040.
