Williamsburg-based Avalon Center, a regionally recognized facility that assists victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, helps more than 600 survivors per year — mainly children — with its programs.
In an effort to keep those programs afloat, the nonprofit will host its annual ‘A Wine Tour de France.’ The fundraiser will take place at Le Yaca restaurant, 1430 High St., April 23, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the Avalon Shelter as well as other programs to support the nonprofit, organizers said.
This is the second year the nonprofit has hosted this event, which sold out in the first year, and is a must-go for all area wine lovers, according to a press release.
The event will feature fine Reidel crystal tasting glasses and a scrumptious selection of amuse-bouches (small bites of intensely flavored chef selections), to heighten the experience of sampling fine French wines.
Entertainment will be provided by jazz vocalist and flutist Jennifer Gammill.
With more than 300 volunteers pitching in, Avalon provides services including support, counseling, life skills programs and safe shelter, executive director Teresa Christin said.
Following the wine tasting, a very special chef’s dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available for the tasting at $75; the dinner at $275.
