A Toano man has been arrested for breaking and entering into the Pineapple Inn on Richmond Road after fighting and spitting on another person staying there, according to a James City County police arrest report.

Joey Jonte Miles, 30, was arrested on April 3 for breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, assault and battery, according to James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.

When police brought Miles to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, he was further charged with bringing marijuana into a correctional facility after police asked him whether he was in possession of anything, with Miles responding he did not have anything, Williams added.

On April 3 , Police believe Miles broke into the Pineapple Inn, a housing center and hostel at 5437 Richmond Rd.

According to a victim’s statement, Miles allegedly kicked in the door to his room and began yelling.

Police believe Miles then grabbed the victim and threw him on the bed.  Security arrived and separated the two. Miles then spit on the face of the victim and left the scene, police said.

The hostel occupant was not hurt during the incident.

Miles has been released on bail, pending a hearing at the Williamsburg-James City General District court on May 19.
