Mervin Lee Piggott, Sr.

Williamsburg - Mervin Lee Piggott, Sr. answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, in the Hospice Support Care House of Williamsburg. His life began on Sep. 1, 1918, the first son born to the late Charles and Laura James Piggott in Croaker.

He was married to the late Esther Mae Piggott. Unto this union, they were blessed with 60 years of sharing and caring for one another.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Piggott and Willie Piggott; and sisters, Julia Jones and Cecelia Ferguson.

Fond memories will always be treasured by his daughter, Barbara Brown and son-in-law, Harold Brown Jr.; son, Mervin L. Piggott Jr.; granddaughter, Lynn Brown; grandsons, H. Roger Brown, III, Jerry Piggott and his wife, Earline, and David Piggott; great-grandsons, Jumanne Brown and Elijah Brown; brother, Herbert Piggott and his wife, Shirley; his sisters-in-law, Marian Howlette, Lucille Minkins and Alzinia Holmes, and Ella Parson; brothers-in-law, John Holmes and John Jones; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

Family and friends will celebrate his life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, in Shiloh Baptist Church in Williamsburg with the Rev. Wilbert Warren officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery on Penniman Road. Family and friends will assemble at 1309 Penniman Road by 12:00 p.m., Saturday. Mr. Piggott may be viewed only in the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of his service on Saturday.
