Lake Matoaka Music Series Returns

After a one-year hiatus, the Matoaka Summer Concert Series will return this spring to the Lake Matoaka performance center on the campus of the College of William and Mary.

Steve Rose, president of Williamsburg Event Rentals and the non-profit organization Inclusion (the benefactor of the series), announced his plans to bring the popular late spring/summertime series back Friday nights. The series will run every other week beginning May 21 and continue through August 13.

“We took a year off so we could look into what would work best," said Rose. "With the help of the College, we chose this format so we could get the most popular artists that have been here in years past.”

Crowd-pleaser bands making a return engagement include Tidewater favorites Slapwater, Butter and the Rhondels. Other local staples who are on the schedule are The Janitors, English Channel and Borderline Crazy. The full schedule will be available online soon.

Admission is $7 and will include entertainment for children, along with beer and wine for adults.

Gates will open at 6 p.m., with music from 6:30 until 10 p.m.
