Prince of Wales’ Gardener Returns to CW

Prince of Wales’ Gardener Returns to CW Colonial Williamsburg’s Garden Symposium Coming April 30-May 2

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.David Howard, horticulture consultant, Gloucestershire, England, will discuss the trends in horticulture he has observed during his 30 years of gardening in his lecture, “My Gardening Life,” at 7 p.m. Friday, May 1 at the Williamsburg Lodge and conference center.
“When David Howard spoke at our 2007 symposium, he charmed the audience with a fascinating presentation on Highgrove’s royal gardens, where he served as the head gardener to Prince Charles,” said Laura Viancour, garden programs coordinator. “The response to his lecture by our audience was very favorable, and we are delighted that he agreed to return and give two presentations this year.”
Cost for dinner and the lecture are $95.
Howard also will host one of three concurrent sessions, “What Happens Next? Managing Your Garden,” earlier in the day. A separate ticket is required to attend.
Howard’s career in horticulture has been diverse, having worked in commercial horticulture at Hillier Nurseries, collecting plants in the Himalayas and serving as the chief gardener for His Royal Highness Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The dinner and the lecture are part of the 63rd Colonial Williamsburg Garden Symposium.
