Robert James ‘Bob’ McGhee, 76, had a great sense of humor

Robert James ‘Bob’ McGhee, 76, passed away suddenly Monday, April 17, 2017. He was a native of Danville and had been a longtime resident of Williamsburg.

Bob was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, and shortly after, gained employment with NASA at the Langley Research Center, where he retired after 30 years. He had a great sense of humor and loved animals, especially dogs and cats. He enjoyed traveling and spending time in the Outer Banks.

Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Agnes Barksdale McGhee.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, David B. McGhee of Charlotte, N.C., and Richard J. McGhee (Paula) of Lincolnshire, Ill.; four sisters, Joyce Doss of Hampton, Diane M. Delaney of Greensboro, N.C., Lorraine Brumburg (Chip) of Richmond, and Iris Holder (Basil) of Black River, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Lanie and Scott McGhee.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, conducted by the Rev. Randy Gardner. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
