Meredith Windsor ‘Mutt’ Cason, 86, of Lanexa, Va., passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones Friday, April 14, 2017. He was a native of Washington, D.C., and a veteran of the Korean War, where he proudly served as a sergeant in the 937th Field Artillery Battalion until 1953.

Upon being discharged from the U.S. Army, Mr. Cason served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves until 1961. During this time, he held positions at Ceco Steel and the local rail yards before moving to Virginia to work as a maintenance engineer for Colonial Williamsburg, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Cason was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John L. Hill Jr. of Williamsburg; sister, Shirley Virginia Hill of Williamsburg; and mother, Bessie Irene Cason of Lanexa.

He will be forever remembered as Uncle Mutt by surviving nephews, John L. Hill III and Roger L. Hill, both of Williamsburg, and Robin W. Hill of Charles City.

A service will be held to celebrate Mr. Cason’s life at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
