On Monday, April 10, 2017, George Barry Rose, 56, of Williamsburg, passed away. His death was unexpected, and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jean Rose. He is survived by his brother, Kevin Rose, and his wife, Donna; brother, Chris Rose, and his wife, Lisa; and two nephews Mason Rose and Payton Rose. He is also survived by Kathleen Rose, and her daughters, Denice Barkwill, Victoria Herrick, and her husband, Jeff, and Liz Gentry, and her husband, Van; son, Jeff Dunn, and his wife, Kim; and their children; and girlfriend, Stacey Jordan.

George, or Barry as he was known by many, was born Jan., 26, 1961, in EI Paso, Texas. As part of a military family, he lived in the Philippines, Ga., Okinawa and Virginia. Consequently, he developed keen interests in geography, history and the military. As a youth, he enjoyed playing sports and spending time at his grandparents in North Carolina.

Barry attended Kecoughtan High School where he lettered in football, wrestling and track. He graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in business. While working, he subsequently received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Barry served for four years as a captain in the U.S. Army with posts in EI Paso, Texas, and Germany. Barry settled in Williamsburg, where he spent the last several years working as a certified occupational therapist, an occupation he enjoyed.

Barry’s interests included dogs, military history, music, sports and especially building models. He will be remembered for his love of dogs, sense of humor, and love to talk with others on a variety of issues.
