Jerry Mitchell Carter Sr., 73, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Jerry had a passion for hunting and fishing, and was also an avid gardener and cook.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Bray Carter; father, Floyd Willard Carter; stepfather, George Meredith Carter; brother, Floyd Carter and sister, Barbara Lindholm.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carter; children, Lynne Clark (John), Cindy May (Michael), Carol Carter, Jerry Carter Jr. (Courtney), Deborah Richardson (Roy) and Rebecca Miller (Ron); siblings, Juanita Ashby, Irene Dunn and Linda Tingen; 11 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, where a memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
