VDOT to start late-night paving on Jamestown Road

Update 12:30 pm March 10: James City County announced in a news release the project will be delayed until March 19 due to challenging weather conditions.

Motorists driving after dark in James City County should expect delays as Virginia Department of Transportation announces night work along Jamestown Road starting Sunday.

VDOT is set to begin a milling and paving project between Humelsine Parkway and Jamestown-Scotland Ferry dock.

Crews will be working between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for two to three weeks depending on weather conditions.

The work will reduce travel on the road to a single lane with alternating traffic.

Roadwork will begin at the Jamestown dock and continue toward Route 199 until finished, with daytime signal work  between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the intersection of Sandy Bay Road and Jamestown Road.
