An investigation has revealed that the stabbing of a teenager in York County occurred during an attempted robbery of a drug dealer, according to police.

A 15-year-old was sent to the hospital Feb. 13 after being stabbed several times and suffering a partially collapsed lung, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said.

Police believe the now-16-year-old victim of the stabbing attempted to rob another male of his marijuana, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.

While he was attempting to rob the other male, a 17-year-old female also involved the interaction stabbed him several times, the post said.

“The victim originally reported that he and the suspect had met at that location to settle a dispute from the day before,” police said.

The 17-year-old female is charged with aggravated malicious wounding. The 16-year-old victim of the stabbing is charged with attempted robbery.

Police responded to the 100-block of St. Clair Circle in the Belmont Apartments Feb. 13 for a reported stabbing.

When police met the 16-year-old at the Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, the teen said he had been stabbed after an older man followed him home after they settled their differences at a basketball game.

Police are not releasing the names of the two people charged because they are juveniles
