Mrs. Maggie Lee Jones received her heavenly wings and ascended to her eternal home Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in Envoy of Williamsburg.
Her long life’s journey began May 10, 1909, the daughter of the late Ned Cary and Eva Cary Coles Ludy, in Toano, Va. She lived a long and fruitful life, answering the Master’s call at the blessed age of 107.
She was a faithful and devoted member of St. John Baptist Church, Toano. Mrs. Jones was always asked how she had lived so long. Her response was, “Just be good boys and good girls and the years will be added.”
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her nephews, John Hundley (Melody) and Cecil Marrow (Stella); and host of other nephews, nieces and many caring friends.
A homegoing service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Reggie Berkley officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 606 North Henry Street by 10 a.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Jones may be viewed only in the church on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. until the hour of her service.
