Barbara Owens, 67, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. Barbara was a native of Lumberton, N.C., and a Yorktown resident since 1982.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family. She opened her heart and home to her friends and the children who called her ‘Mom.’ She enjoyed singing in the church choir and working with arts and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Arcina Broadaway; and sister, Margaret (Faye) Tedder.

She is survived by her husband of 47 wonderful years, James H. Owens; daughter, Jennifer Anderson (Eric) of Yorktown; son, James Brian Owens (Amy) of Toano; and two grandsons, Connor Owens and Alex Higgins (Jessica).

The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. The family will also receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave, Asheboro, N.C. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at Pugh Funeral Home with burial to follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
