Walter T. Selnack, 92, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Norfolk, Va., from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born May 18, 1924, in Queens, N.Y., and had been a resident of Williamsburg, Va., since 1989.
Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in May 1943 and served as a bombardier/navigator and instructor until discharge as first lieutenant in November 1945. He attended New York University and Chicago Tech and owned the Paumanok Travel Agency offices on Long Island, N.Y., prior to his retirement to Williamsburg. Walter played baseball in his youth and remained an avid sports fan.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Catherine Selnack; and siblings, Edward, Virginia, Dorothy and Catherine.
Walter married Gail Steedley Jan. 1, 1993, adding her three children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren to their combined family.
While in Williamsburg, Walter was an active supporter of the College of William & Mary Athletics and enjoyed traveling to the many of the places he had previously planned at his travel agencies. Walter touched the hearts of all of those he contacted and will be greatly missed.
