York County first responders fight house fire on Rainbrook Way

York County first responders were called to the 200 block of Rainbrook Way to a reported residential structure fire around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a Department of Fire and Life Safety news release.

Fire and Life Safety personnel reported heavy smoke coming from the roof of the condominium, and heavy fire in the attic of the primary condominium unit involved in the fire, according to the news release.

The fire was mostly contained to the attic of the condominium unit. The residence also suffered heat and smoke damage, the release said.

Newport News and Hampton Fire Departments provided mutual aid assistance for the response. There were no reported injuries and the fire is out, according to the news release, which was sent at 7:15 p.m.

York County Fire and Life Safety has units remaining on the scene to conduct salvage and overhaul operations, the release said.

Investigators are still attempting to determine the origins of the fire, the release said.
