Michael Charles Turkovich, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017. “Mike the plumber” was a native of Monaca, Pa., and later moved to Virginia, where he proudly served as a diver in the U.S. Army.

He had been a Yorktown resident since 1970 and was a member of Yorkminster Presbyterian Church. He was owner of Turkovich Plumbing Company and retired in 2002 after more than 30 years. Mike was well known around Yorktown for his honest work and friendly smile. In his free time, he enjoyed the beaches of the Outer Banks and was an avid snow skier in his younger years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Margaret Turkovich; and his sister, Margaret Ann Winkle.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Doris; two sons, Michael Turkovich (Derek) of Williamsburg and Erik Turkovich (Allison) of Yorktown; brother, John Turkovich (Sally) of Center Township, Pa.; two sisters, Marlene Magnotta (Tony) and Mary Ann Dessler (Richard), all of Monaca, Pa.; and one very special grandson, Preston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mike will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at Yorkminster Presbyterian Church. A gathering of friends will follow in the Founders Hall.
