Health officials seek dog that bit person at Grove Community Park is your source for free news and information in Williamsburg, James City & York Counties.

Authorities from the Peninsula Health District are searching for a dog described as “medium size” and “brown” that is believed to have bitten a person at Grove Community Park in James City County on Sunday.

“If this Dog is not found,” read a release from the department. “The victim may have to undergo post exposure treatment (shots) for the prevention of rabies.”

Virginia state law requires that dogs and cats be vaccinated between the ages of three and four months, the release stated.

Once the dog is found, it will be placed on an in-home confinement period of 10 days, the release stated.
