Elizabeth Ann Martin, 86, former bus driver with Hampton City Schools

Elizabeth Ann Martin, 86, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. Elizabeth was a resident of Hampton and Grafton for over 44 years.

She was a bus driver for Hampton City Schools and Maida Development Co. of Hampton. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and antiquing. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grandmother.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Charles Martin; daughter, Wanda Adams; parents, Charles Emory Crayton and Beadie Austin Crayton; brother, Riley Crayton; and sister, Evelyn Walls.

She is survived by two sons, Floyd (Skeet) Martin Jr. (Patricia) and Steve Martin (Bonnie); three daughters, Linda Hendricks (Joe), Kathy Wiggins (Orin) and Debbie Martin (Danny); sister, Carolyn Costa of Newport News; brothers, C.E. Crayton (Sammie) of Gloucester Ronnie Crayton (Linda) of Gloucester; and 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, with the Rev. Sven vanBaars, officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to York County Fire Department, York Convalescent Center nursing and staff, and also to Dr. Edwin Cruz, Dr. Robert Orlino and the nurses and staff at Hampton Roads Specialty Hospital for caring for our mother like she was one of their own, and a very special thank you to her grandson, friend and caregiver, Owen Adams.
