A 57-year-old woman is in police custody after driving a stolen rental car for more than two years before her arrest Wednesday.

According to Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department, deputies assisted the Richmond Airport Police in recovering the stolen vehicle around 7 p.m. Wednesday. The car was located at a motel in the 3000 block of Richmond Road.

Enterprise Rental reported the stolen vehicle to Richmond Airport Police around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Enterprise told police vehicle was stolen some time in December of 2014, but was not noticed until Wednesday after an inventory check, Riley said.

Enterprise used the OnStar service on the vehicle to provide its location to law enforcement, Riley said.

A Williamsburg investigator located current possessor of the vehicle, who was identified as Vicki Lynn Smith. Smith told police she has been in possession of the vehicle since its disappearance.

She was arrested and transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, where she was charged with Receiving Stolen Goods.
