Gertrude Routten “Trudy” Hill, 97, a native of Hampton and Yorktown resident since 1991, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Hampton Roads Seafood and R.R. Houston Roofing. Mrs. Hill was a lifelong member of Hampton Christian Church. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed baking. She was very well known for her cakes.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Hill; sons, Everett Hill and David Hill; parents, Eugenia and William Routten; brother, Gene Routten; and sister, Betty Bailey.

She is survived by a son, Michael Hill, and his wife, Gail, of Riverside, Calif.; grandchildren, Jonathan M. Hill of Palm Desert, Calif., Lauren Hill Barrish of Washington, Pa., Amy Hill of Fall City, Wash., and Kelly Hill of Fall City, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Jax Barrish and Everly Barrish; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, immediately followed by a celebration of Trudy’s life at 2 p.m. led by the Rev. Lisa Barbery at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton.
