Frieda B. Cutts, 79, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.
A native of Covington, Va., and a Peninsula resident since 1954, Frieda graduated from Covington High School in 1954 and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She retired from Fort Eustis in 1988 after 30 years of service.
She received the Commander’s Award for civilian service and enjoyed scrap booking. She was a former member of Warwick Assembly God, where she volunteered in the church office and nursery. She also volunteered for Dr. Huddleston at Fort Eustis Veterinary Clinic, especially in the labor and delivery of puppies.
Frieda was preceded in death by husband of 55 years, William Bill Cutts; four brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include her sons and their wives, Stephen Bradley Cutts (Betty) of Newport News and David William Cutts (Debra) of Yorktown; one sister, Margaret Rucker of Yorktown; four grandchildren, Shannon Beth Smith (Dwain), Jessica Leigh Nixon (Eric), Krista Nicole Cutts and William David “Sonny” Cutts; four great-grandchildren, David Ayden Nixon, Kaleb Eric Nixon, Hurley Everette Smith and William Henry Smith; and special niece, Sharon Mosley, who cared for Frieda and assisted during her illness, along with a host of other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Amory Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joe Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
