Bruce M. Ryan, 67, Army veteran who served during Vietnam War

Bruce M. Ryan, 67, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017. Bruce was a native of Alexandria, Va., and a peninsula resident since 1957.

He graduated from York High School in 1968 and retired from Vepco/Dominion Power in 1997 after 28 years of service. He was an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the GWRRA Chapter O and lifetime member of the Rappahannock Pistol and Rifle Club and Denbigh Christian Church. He enjoyed making knives and was a member of North Carolina Custom Knife Makers Guild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Tabitha Ryan; and brother, Gary Ryan.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Ryan Molthrop of Pilot Mountain, N.C., and Joseph F. Ryan (Angela) of Seaford, Va.; two sisters, Linda Slaughter (Claudie) of Charles City County and Vicki Prevatt (Jack) of Yorktown; and two grandchildren, Erika Molthrop and Dylan Ryan.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Amory Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Amory Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery.
