U.S. Army Master Sgt. Joseph P. “Joe” Deciano Jr., 59, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017.

Joe was a master sergeant and jumpmaster with the 82nd Airborne. He served over 22 years in the U.S. Army, including during the Gulf War, and received numerous medals.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph P. Deciano Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Mariann; children, Michael Deciano (Jennifer), Jason Deciano (Kristi), Ryan Deciano (Taylor) and Richard and Victoria Verbeeck; grandchildren, Morgan, Zoey, Arianna and Christopher; mother, Anna Deciano; his stepmother, Margaret Deciano; siblings, Nancy VanValkenburgh (Jeff), Kim Marie Ballister (Matthew), April Davidoff (Mark) and Tracy Deciano; sister-in-law, Sandra Darby (Anthony); nieces and nephews, Cassidy Davidoff, Ashleigh Umhay, and Anthony “A.J.” and Sarina Darby; as well as Laurie O’Brien and Patsy Reach, who were always a part of his life.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
