Have you ever wondered how to get rid of old paint cans?

James City County is holding a free hazardous materials drop-off from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Sanford B. Wanner Stadium, 5700 Warhill Trail, according to a release. The stadium is next door to Warhill High School.

Residents can bring a range of household items to the drop-off, including oil and latex paint, oven cleaners, metal polishes, pesticides, insecticides, floor wax, kerosene and swimming pool chemicals.

Computer recycling will also be available.

James City County hosts hazmat drop-offs five times a year. York County, Hampton and Poquoson also sponsor similar free events.

But JCC won’t take everything. Televisions, for example, won’t be accepted. Neither will ammunition, explosives, radioactive products, business or medical waste, medications or alkaline batteries.
