YPSO: Elderly woman struck by gunfire at home early Friday

An elderly York County woman was hit by gunfire in her home just after midnight Friday, according to the York-Poquoson Sherriff’s Office.

The woman, who lives in the 1000 block of Stewart Drive in the Bruton area, is 73, according to Lt. Dennis Ivey, a spokesperson for YPSO. The victim was struck in the lower extremities and taken to Riverside Hospital, according to a news release. She is in stable condition. She was alone at the time of the incident. Several rounds of gunfire were fired.

An investigation is ongoing.
