Lily Root Bowker, 88, of Williamsburg, Va., passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bowker.
Lily was a teacher and an artist. She loved to travel, flowers and being outdoors. She also loved to read, learn and teach. She and her husband were friends to the birds and she practiced watercolor painting and working in pastels for many years.
She had a master’s degree from Radcliffe College and was a docent for several years at the Muscarelle Museum of Art. She was a resident of Williamsburg for over 40 years.
Lily is survived by her sons, Fritz Bowker, and his wife, Vicki R. Bowker, Tom Bowker, and his wife, Karen S. Bowker, and Joel Bowker, and his wife, Nancy S. Bowker; daughter, Molly Bowker; grandchildren, Ryan, Quinn, Marianna and Nolan; great-grandchild, Benett; brothers, Ernest Root (Carol), Peter Fournier (Christine) and Gerard Fournier (Lois); and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg.
