Charles Bodeker “Charlie” Thomas, 81, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017.

Charlie was born and raised in Richmond. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy, he was a longtime pharmacist at Rite-Aid in Yorktown. He served on the Yorktown Trustees for many years.

Charlie enjoyed his daily breakfast at The Duke of York with his longtime buddies. He instilled the love of music, travel and the arts in his children and grandchildren. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and had a special place in his heart for all animals. He was a huge Virginia Cavaliers’ fan and contributor.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Margaret Thomas.

He is survived by his three devoted daughters, Wendel Thomas Nuzzo, and her husband, Lee, of Norfolk, Anne Hunter Thomas of Virginia Beach and Laura Bodeker Thomas of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Tucker Gardner Jankosky, and his wife, Francesca, and Jennifer Neal Nuzzo; and first wife, Nancy Gardner Thomas.

A memorial service celebrating Charlie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Grace Episcopal Church in Yorktown with the Rev. Carleton Bakkum officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Association.
