Donnie Alexander Bartlett, 62, quietly passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at his home with loved ones around his bedside. He was born on Feb. 7, 1954 to the late Ethel and Thomas Bartlett Sr. in James City County.
As a lifelong resident of Williamsburg, he attended Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and received his GED in 1970 before enrolling in Job Corps. Afterward, he served the U.S. Army for several years before he was honorably discharged from the service.
Donnie was actively employed in the restaurant and housekeeping service before retiring due to disabilities. He was a lover of sports and outdoor activities, fishing and walking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Bartlett.
He was a devoted loving father and grandfather, who leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Donnell and Shaunell Bartlett, four stepchildren, six grandchildren, six siblings, two aunts and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Ronald A. Ellis officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service.
