Bella “Jane” O’Neal, 78, beloved wife and mother, entered eternal rest Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. She was the wife of Thomas R. O’Neal Sr. for 55 years.
Jane was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Philipsburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Mary Marguerite Vaughan and Joseph Zakutney. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Zakutney.
Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband Tom, are her children, Michael W. O’Neal, and his wife, Sharon, of Williamsburg, Thomas R. O’Neal Jr., and his wife, Emily, of Vancouver, Wash., Linda O’Neal West of Toano, Va., and Timothy K. O’Neal of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Isla Mary Dean of Lewistown, Pa.; sister-in-law, Ruth Zakutney of Hookstown, Pa.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Jane was a world-traveler who was very dedicated and supportive of her husband with his military career. She delighted in experiencing new cultures and making lifelong friends, including Louise Van Eeaklean of Holland and Joanne and Dennis Kwandt of West Point. Jane dedicated her life to her family and home. She was a gifted cook, seamstress, gardener and passionate animal lover.
Jane was well known for her international cuisine and apple pie. She will be remembered for her gracious and loving spirit, laughter and beautiful smile that touched many hearts.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunny Slope Cemetery.
