Gov. McAuliffe declares state of emergency in advance of winter storm

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe declared a state of emergency Friday afternoon in anticipation of a winter storm that is projected to bring a foot or more of snow to Hampton Roads this weekend. 

According to a National Weather Service alert, a winter storm warning will remain in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday. The areas affected by the storm include southeast Virginia and northeast North Carolina.
