Deloris Holloway, of Surry County, Va., died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va., of ALS.
She attended Surry High School and worked for the College of William & Mary for 40 years before her illness. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching Westerns, and assisting her church wherever she was needed. She was very loyal to her church, Poplar Lawn Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time with family.
Deloris was a beautiful, joyful person with an infectious smile. She was always willing to offer a helping hand when needed. She was the eldest of eight siblings, whom she adored. Deloris loved her family and her church. Above all, she loved God and was a faithful servant to Him.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Holloway Sr.; and an aunt, Rebecca Dorsey.
She is survived by her son, Andre Holloway (Michelle); daughter, Crystal Holloway; granddaughters, Alexis Holloway and J’Kira Smith; mother,
Mary Holloway; sisters, Syflornia Carter, Ann Holloway, Bertha Muntasir
and Earica Holloway; and brothers, Ricky Holloway, Walter Holloway Jr. and Jerry Holloway.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Poole’s Funeral Home, Surry. A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 6, at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Ray Cemetery, Surry.
