Police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with a July 24 robbery at a York County Wendy’s restaurant, police said.
York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested 27-year-old Rakim M. Jones Dec. 22 for his alleged involvement in the armed robbery, which occurred in the 4300 block of Route 17, according to a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office news release.
Jones is charged with robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony.
“People need to realize that when they commit robberies in York County we will catch them,” Sheriff J.D. “Danny” Diggs said.
Deputies apprehended two other suspects, a 17-year-old and 18-year-old Shannon Jerrod Martin Jr, when they pulled over a “getaway vehicle” the night of the alleged incident, police said.
On Dec. 9, investigators arrested Edwin O. Eliaba, 19, in connection to the incident.
All four man are from Newport News, and the 17-year-old, Martin and Eliaba are all charged with two counts of robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony, the release said.
Martin is scheduled to appear at York-Poquoson Circuit Court on Feb. 23, Eliaba will appear in the York-Poquoson General District Court Feb. 28 and Jones will appear in the general district court Dec. 30 at 8:31 a.m.
