James Percival Edwards III, 77, founder of Colonial Heritage Investment Club

James Percival Edwards III, 77, of Williamsburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016.

Jim served in the U.S. Army as a captain during the Vietnam War era. Following his service, he was proud to work for 47 years in the defense industry, “protecting those who protect us.”

Jim also founded and was president of the Colonial Heritage Investment Club and treasurer of Colonial Heritage Men’s Golf Association. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962 and was a proud member of the Texas Exes Association. He also served on the Board of Visitors for the UT School of Arts and Sciences.

A lifelong proponent of physical fitness and outdoor activities, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, power walking, running – in his younger days – and working in the yard. His favorite indoor activities were reading, visiting with friends and investing.

Jim loved his family, and they will miss him greatly. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betsy Edwards; sons, James D. Edwards, and his wife, Silke, and Richard M. Edwards, and his wife, Tracy; daughter, Patricia Edwards; and grandchildren, Quen Franks, Ethan and Angela Franks, James E. Edwards, Duncan W. Edwards, Caroline Edwards and Ellie Edwards. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julia Edwards Franks, and her husband, Jerald Q. Franks.
