The Historic Triangle is ready to embrace the winter blues.

The third Winter Blues Jazz Fest will have Williamsburg bopping during the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, according to a release.

A four-day celebration of swing, blues and jazz is set for Jan. 12 through Jan. 15, and local concert venues range from a headquarters tent in downtown Williamsburg to the Muscarelle Museum of Art.

There will be vocalists and soloists, harmonica players and a  headlining English band known as “The Swing Ninjas.”

And there will be music with a variety of pairings: craft beer, wine, cocktails and brunch.

Some of the scheduled events include:

  • A festival opener at the Williamsburg Winery on Thursday, Jan. 12, featuring “Good Shot Judy.”
  • Williamsburg’s first-ever harmonica challenge on Friday Jan. 13.
  • A late night jazz club at the Williamsburg Art Gallery on Jan. 13, with Atiba Taylor and Blue Nesta.
  • At the DoG Street Pub on Saturday Jan. 14, there will be two stages with lives blues by “The Michael Clark Band” and “Jackie Scott and the Housewreckers,” as well as an assortment of barrel-aged brews.
  • Stephanie Nakasian and the Harris Simon Trio will perform at the Muscarelle on Jan. 14.
  • An event called “Mixology & Music” at Williamsburg Lodge will offer cocktails and “The Swing Ninjas” performing live.
  • On Sunday, Jan. 15, look for two jazz brunches at the Williamsburg Inn, including “The Modern Muse Quartet” performing at the Fat Canary.

The Winter Blues Jazz Fest came about through the efforts of Jennifer Raines, owner of Quirks of Art, Steve Rose of Williamsburg Event Rentals and Chef David Everett of Blue Talon Bistro.
