James City County Police are searching for a man who they believe assaulted a woman during an early morning dispute in mid-November.
Police are looking for Ryan DeCarlo Braxton, 41, of James City County, James City County Police Department spokesman Stephanie Williams said.
Braxton is charged with abduction, grand larceny and domestic assault in connection with a domestic dispute Nov. 16, police said.
Police responded to a residence on Burton Woods Drive around 1:30 a.m. after a woman reported Braxton assaulted her and stole two car keys from her purse, Williams said.
The woman reported that she and Braxton had gotten into an argument, and he prevented her from leaving the house afterwards, Williams said.
Braxton placed a chair in front of the door and sat in it, blocking the woman from leaving. The woman and Braxton got into a scuffle, during which Braxton pushed her and pulled her hair, Williams said.
After the scuffle, Braxton took two car keys from the victim’s purse and left on foot, police said.
Braxton is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds. His last known address is Burton Woods Drive in James City County, according to a James City County Facebook post.
