Williamsburg Police charge JCC man with Shell station robbery

Williamsburg Police have arrested a James City County man and charged him with robbing a gas station earlier this week.

Guillermo Martin Romero Jr., 26, was taken into custody at about 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 8, according to a news release from the Williamsburg Police Department.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 7, Williamsburg Police responded to an attempted robbery at the Shell station on the 1600 block of Richmond Road.

The store clerk told police the same person from a Dec. 4 robbery had come back and tried to rob the store again.

The clerk refused to cooperate. The suspect left on foot. No one was injured.

Romero has been charged with one count each of robbery and wearing a mask in public for the Dec. 4 incident. He has also been charged with attempted robbery and public mask wearing for the events of Dec. 7.

Romero is in custody at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
