The Virginia State Police are investigating a possible carjacking that allegedly occurred Tuesday evening on I-64 in York County.
According to a VSP news release, police received several calls of a male subject waving down traffic on westbound I-64 at the 238 mile marker in York County.
A state trooper was dispatched to the location and upon arrival, spoke with a man who reported to be the victim of a carjacking. He alleged that he was stopped by a dark-colored Ford vehicle with blue lights mounted in the windshield.
After he stopped, the victim said he was approached by two white males in plain clothes. They told him to exit his vehicle. Once the victim exited his car, one of the two white males entered the vehicle and drove off in it. The suspects left the victim unharmed on the side of the interstate.
Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations was called to the scene and are currently handling the ongoing investigation, the release stated.
According to the release, the victim was driving a 2017 Chevy Impala four-door with New Jersey plates registered as P63HBP. State Police seek any information from passing motorist who witnessed this incident or have seen the victim’s vehicle and are asking them to contact (757) 424-6800.
