Monticello Avenue to close for emergency roadwork

A stretch of Monticello Avenue between Centerville Road and John Tyler Highway will close for emergency roadwork Monday and will remained closed through the morning of Friday, Dec. 23.

According to a county news release, the section of Monticello Avenue will be closed for repair work starting at 9 a.m. Monday.

Traffic will be detoured as follows:

Westbound: Motorists will turn left at Centerville Road (Route 614), turn right onto John Tyler Highway (Route 5), and turn left at the intersection of John Tyler Highway (Route 5) and Monticello Avenue (Route 5000).

Eastbound: Motorists will turn right at the intersection of John Tyler Highway (Route 5) and Monticello Avenue (Route 5000) onto John Tyler Highway (Route 5), turn left onto Centerville Road (Route 614), and turn right onto Monticello Avenue (Route 5000).

Motorists are encouraged to call 511 or the Traffic Information Line at 757-361-3016, visit www.511virginia.org, or listen to Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 1680 AM for current traffic and travel information.
