Michael Harry Solan, 100, of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016. He was born Oct. 2, 1916, to the late Tymko and Anna Solan in Monessen, Pa.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Michael volunteered at the Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department and was the caretaker and usher at St. Bede Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his two wives, Lucille Bellinger Solan, wife of 22 years, and Virginia Davis Solan, wife of 38 years.
He is survived by his three children, Kassie Ruth (Thomas), Maryanne Solan and Michael T. Solan; seven grandchildren, Amy, Jessica, Anna and Chrissy Ruth, Brendan London, Sarah Polasik and Meredith Thompson; and seven great-grandchildren, Julian, Touko, Silmu, Avery, Cody, Amelia and Emma.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
