Elizabeth A. “Liz” Urban (Clayton), 51, passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.
Liz was born in East Chicago, Ind., on March 2, 1965. Elizabeth was raised in Manitowoc, Wis., and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1983.
She joined the U.S. Army in 1983 as a transporter with duty assignments at various U.S. bases and in Germany. She retired after 20 years of active duty in 2003 and moved to Yorktown, Va., where she began a new career as a small business owner.
Liz had a great love for family, friends and travel. She was always helpful to friends and strangers.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Daniel; two stepsons, Chris and Joe; and six grandchildren. She is further survived by three brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by both parents.
A celebration for Liz will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Amory Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to express a special thank you to her loyal friends, Patty Smith and Susan Born, along with Olivia Platon from Virginia Oncology, for their unwavering support during her illness.
Memorial donations may be made to any cancer research programs in memory of Elizabeth.
