The Ford’s Colony Model Railroad Club will display seven operating model railroad layouts at its 12th annual show at the Williamsburg Regional Library at 7770 Croaker Road in Norge this weekend.

Layouts in G, O, HO, and N scale sizes will be displayed. Some layouts have interactive functions that visitors can operate.

The display will be open Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The activity began in 2005, when the library asked the club if it could display a layout to help recognize National Model Railroad Week. The club built and displayed one operating layout that first year.

In the following years, layouts in all scale sizes have been displayed, and the event has been held on Grand Illumination Weekend as a major Williamsburg activity. Over 1,000 people visit the display each year and needless to say it is enjoyed by “kids of all ages.”

The library can be reached from the intersection of Centerville Road/Lightfoot Post Office by taking Richmond Road west for 2.7 miles to Croaker Road, then right on Croaker Road for 4/10 mile to the library on the right. Or, take I-64 to exit 231A; then south on Croaker Road 7/10 mile to library on the left. All aboard!
