According to a press release, BikeWalk Williamsburg is partnering with Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools’ Safe Routes to School and the Williamsburg Police Department to present the Fall Bicycle Rodeo.

BikeWalk Williamsburg is a non-profit that advocates for the creation of bicycle and walk-friendly communities in Williamsburg, James City County, and York County, according to its website.

The rodeo will be held in the parking lot of Hornsby Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 19, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.  According to the press release, the purpose of the rodeo is to promote bicycle safety to students between kindergarten and grade five.

Students will be moving through different stations in which they will learn helmet usage, bicycle handling and control, traffic simulations, the importance of being seen by motorists, and basic safety strategies.

Registration can be completed through the Williamsburg-James City Schools Website.  Parents interested in volunteering can Darlene Wiggins Dockery at 757-603-6490 or Darlene.Dockery@WJCCCschools.com.
