Wilbur Harris Woodson III, 72, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C.
He was born in Richmond, Va. on June 3, 1944 to Wilbur H. Woodson Jr. (deceased) and Paige L. Norman Thigpen.
He is survived by his mother, Paige and Frank Thigpen (stepfather) of West Point; and his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Seward Woodson; two sons, Dean M. Woodson and Stephen E. Woodson; and a daughter, Shawn Woodson Nyman. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Angel, Amanda, Mason and Dillon; as well as five sisters, Isaline, Gwen, Theresa, Colette and Corey; and a brother Roland.
Wilbur had a love for life that was apparent to all. He always had a smile and a kind word for friends and strangers alike, and could be counted on to lift the spirits of those around him. “He was a goodhearted man who will be missed by all.”
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12th at 3 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, Va. Interment in Sunny Slope Cemetery will take place at a later date.
